Shadow People & The Hat Man
Shadow People:
A shadow person (also known as a shadow figure, shadow being or black mass) is the perception of a patch of shadow as a living, humanoid figure, and, interpreted as the presence of a spirit or other entity by believers in the paranormal or supernatural.
A number of religions, legends, and belief systems describe shadowy spiritual beings or supernatural entities such as shades of the underworld, and various shadowy creatures have long been a staple of folklore and ghost stories.

Medical Causes:
Encounters with Shadow people terrifying to the experience. Shadow entities are very disturbing and use negative energy to drain your emotionally, mentally in in some cases physically. The question most often asked is are they real or imaginary?
Despite witness accounts describing Shadow People as appearing while being fully awake, mental health experts have suggested various 'logical' explanations.
Several physiological and psychological conditions can account for reported experiences of shadowy shapes seeming alive. A sleep paralysis sufferer may perceive a "shadowy or indistinct shape" approaching them when they lie awake paralyzed and become increasingly alarmed.

A person experiencing heightened emotion, such as while walking alone on a dark night, may incorrectly perceive a patch of shadow as an attacker.
Many methamphetamine addicts report the appearance of "shadow people" after prolonged periods of sleep deprivation. Psychiatrist Jack Potts suggests that methamphetamine usage adds a "conspiratorial component" to the sleep deprivation hallucinations.
One interviewed subject said that "You don't see shadow dogs or shadow birds or shadow cars. You see shadow people. Standing in doorways, walking behind you, coming at you on the sidewalk." These hallucinations have been directly compared to the paranormal entities described in folklore.
A final plausible cause could be visual hallucinations, such as those caused by schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, may appear to be shadowy figures at the edge of peripheral vision.

Medical Causes:
Many people experience what is called a Hypnagogic sleep state which can be terrifying. Hypnagogia is the transitional state of consciousness between wakefulness and sleep. It's the opposite of hypnopompia, which is the transitional state that occurs before you wake up. During hypnagogia, it's common to experience involuntary and imagined experiences. These are referred to as hypnagogic hallucinations.
Most skeptics of Shadow People claim this condition is the cause of most shadow encounters. They will therefore discredit witness claims such as "I was not asleep", "I know the difference between a regular shadow and what I saw" and "What about my friend who saw it with me?"

TYPE C - Omen Event : Proceeding a specific event, likely tragic, but not always. Hell hounds & Robed Figures are common.
TYPE D - Stalking : Visible only to the subject, witnessed outdoors, night or day, can shift to any type of experience.
TYPE E - Haunting : Static shadow tied to an area. Graveyards, Ruins, Tragic Scenes, Warzones & isolated regions. Drawing energy from the location and/or past history.
ENERGY SOUCE & 'FEEDING'
CLASS 1 - Passive : possible EMR/EMF, biologic activity, past event elements. Seldom seeking engagement with humans.
CLASS 2 - Active : attached to observation fear or other strong emotional responses generated by their presence being known.

Interdimensional Demons:
If shadow entities are indeed real, what is their source? Are they interdimensional beings, evil spirits or demonic in nature?
It's hard to know for sure; however, most recent witness accounts are leaning towards a demonic nature. Certain victims have found prayer to be effective in keeping shadows at bay, whilst others claim shadow people are unrelenting in the face of spiritual tactics/warfare.
The Hat Man in particular seems to be unique and can be a harbinger of additional shadow entities. The Hat Man has been said to be evil and will attack victims directly; however, many new witness accounts claim The Hat Man is either a bad omen and/or a shadow pack leader of sorts.

It has been speculated that once a shadow entity is successfully feeding off fear of a victim, more shadows will gather in the residence.
In extremely rare cases some witnesses claim the shadow people will stalk them even at work or when in public places. When witnesses see shadows in daytime public settings, it's hard to fathom. You tend to think that openly public, waking daylight, shadow entity encounters can't be real and are in fact hallucinations.
What is known without question is the victims of Shadow Entities are terrified and in many cases appear to be rational people.
